Prep Report: Seahawks cut down Wave 53-35
Jardin McCarthy pumped in a game-high 22 points, including five long range baskets, to help lead Cape Coral to a one-sided girls’ basketball victory Thursday night over the Fort Myers Green Wave.
The Seahawks broke away with stifling defense in the third quarter, forcing the Green Wave into nearly a dozen turnovers. The effort led to a 23-4 run that carried the Seahawks from a five-point halftime lead to a 45-21 cushion entering the final period.
Cape also was red hot from three-point range, connecting for nine baskets beyond the arc. Alexiss Griffin hit three three-pointers to finish with 18 points.
Kelsey Mitchell and Quanitra Reid led the Green Wave with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Seahawks (6-3, 2-1 district) head to Miami to face Archbishop Curley Friday night.

Bishop Verot 73, Golden Gate 42: Bishop Verot broke free with 27 points in the very first quarter and coasted to an easy victory over Golden Gate.
Elizabeth Norton hit a game-high 15 points to lead the Vikings, backed by Cici Ward with 12 points and Mercedes Dacosta with 11.
The Vikings (7-3) play at North Fort Myers Friday night.

North Fort Myers 2, Charlotte 1: Rachel Perkins headed in a corner kick delivered by Mariah Fernandez late in the first half, snapping a 1-1 tie to earn North Fort Myers a victory at Charlotte Thursday.
Perkins assisted on the Red Knights’ first goal by Allison Frost. Brianna Abatisti made five saves.
North (7-6) entertains Mariner Monday night at Moody Field.
