Everblades amazed in November
It’s been quite a month for the Florida Everblades, who are on the tail end of a nine-game road trip. Unlike most road trips, this one has been extraordinary.
In compiling a division-leading 14-3-1 record overall, the Blades rattled off a league-best 10 straight victories, nearly going the entire month of November without losing. They capped off an 11-1-0 mark for the month with a 4-3 overtime win over the Johnstown Chiefs on Saturday.
“We have played well,” Blades coach Malcolm Cameron said Thursday. “The guys realized that by playing defense you can create offense and everybody is picking up the pace and everybody is chipping in.”
The Blades’ outstanding play hasn’t stopped at the end of November.
Florida’s numbers for the month includes five shutouts, they outscored their opponents 57-18, and lead the league in goals-for (4.24), goals-against (2.0), and are second in the league on power play conversion (22.8 percent).
Even more amazing is Florida has dominated while facing a bevy of call-ups and players being sent to them by parent affiliates – the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.
Since Nov. 19, a total of seven moves were made to the roster, including team captain and goals leader Kevin Baker, for one day.
Through it all, the Blades have maintained their high level of play.
They return home Dec. 12 for a two games against South Carolina.
