Verot tops ECS 10-3
The Bishop Verot Vikings defeated the Evangelical Christian Sentinels 10-3 Friday night in a game full of interceptions and penalties at Viking Stadium.
The Sentinels (3-1) took an easy field goal for an early lead, but Bishop Verot added a field goal that nearly missed by hitting the post before going through and tied it up 3-3.
The Sentinels came up with an interception in the second quarter by Jeret Foshee, but missed a second field goal attempt that would’ve put them back in the lead.
Matt Timpanelli got Bishop Verot in scoring position with an unexpected punt fake before halftime, but time expired on the Vikings.
In the third quarter, Schon Thomas scored the Vikings’ lone touchdown.
The Sentinels took possession moments later when Zack Willard sacked Viking quarterback Jake Kistel, but the Sentinels couldn’t convert it into points.
The final quarter was highlighted by a pass interception by Verot’s Michael Siefert.
While the Sentinels managed one final interception with 30 seconds to play, they failed to score the game-tying touchdown.
Evangelical Christian travels to Belle Glade Glades Day next Friday while Bishop Verot (3-1) visits district rival Ruskin Lennard.
