Prep Report: Seahawk swimmers victorious

Sophomore Graham Murza touched the wall first in both the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, leading the Cape Coral boys’ swimming team to victories over North Fort Myers and Island Coast.
The Seahawks finished with a score of 145.
Greg Bowser and Kyle Marshall each turned into strong individual performances for North. Bowser won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly and Marshall captured first in the 50 and 500 freestyle events.

The Seahawk girls displayed their depth and talent, finishing first in the tri-match.
Juniors Meghan Cotugno (200 IM), Christina Todd (100 freestyle) and Lauren Smith (100 backstroke) each posted wins, and the Seahawks finished first in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
Cape’s Jeannette Conrad was first in 1-meter diving with a score of 141.3.

At Pelican’s Nest: Four scores in the 40s generally is a good day’s work, but not Tuesday for the Ida Baker Bulldogs who lost for only the second time this season to Barron Collier’s four scores in the 30s.
Dylan Fine and Michael Faulkner set the pace for the Bulldogs with matching 42s.
Barron Collier’s Matt Lawrence turned in an even-par 37 to claim the day’s medalist round.
The Bulldogs (14-2) return to their home course Thursday to host Fort Myers.

At Pelican Preserve: With three scores in the 30s, Mariner High posted its season low team score of 155. They finished four shots back of Fort Myers, which shot 151. Riverdale placed third with a 183.
Grant Burgess and C.J. Cricco led the Tritons with 38. Dean Hoffer shot a 39 and Kyle Schulte 40.
“Our scores keep going down every match,” Mariner coach James Harris said. “We’re realizing we need to be in that 149-151 range to do some damage in districts.”
Fort Myers (10-0) figures to be one of the teams in contention. Justin Summerville and Garrett Melita each posted 37s, finishing as co-medalists.
Mariner (7-3) hosts Estero and Dunbar Thursday at Coral Oaks.

At The Forest: Jack Hernandez and Kevin Reynolds led Bishop Verot to an 11-stroke victory over Evangelical Christian.
Hernandez turned in the medalist round of 2-over-par 38 with Reynolds two strokes back at 40.
Grant Rosario led ECS with 41 while Matt Hannaford added a 44.
The Vikings (4-1) take on Riverdale Thursday.

Ida Baker 3, Lehigh 0: Led by Taryn Maymon’s seven kills and Payton Van Horn’s six kills, the Ida Baker Bulldogs swept past District 5A-15 rival Lehigh — 25-20, 25-15, 25-17.
Taylor Van Horn added three service aces and six digs for the Bulldogs while Chelsey Cline added three digs.
The Bulldogs (5-2, 5-1 district) face a long day Saturday in hosting a county tournament.
Fort Myers 3, North Fort Myers 0: North Fort Myers absorbed a straight-set defeat at the hands of District 5A-15 powerhouse Fort Myers — 25-5, 25-10, 25-15.
Alyssa Dougherty came up with 11 digs for the Red Knights while Mariah Fernandez and Tesla Richards each were credited with three kills.
The Red Knights (4-8) hosts district rival Mariner Thursday night.
