The road to crowning The Hockey Network’s ultimate logo is nearing the proverbial Emerald City.

The Round of 16 is complete and survivors move on to the Elite Eight, a group that includes the Florida Everblades’ logo that squeaked past the Pittsburgh Penguins’ classic crest by a 51 to 49 percent margin in the Round of 16!

A couple logos managed to squeak by and a few others not expected to make it this far are still alive.

The ECHL is represented by the Everblades and the Ontario Reign. The Everblades go head-to-head with the Reign, the newest member of the league, in the quarterfinal, meaning only one can reach the semis.

The Gwinnett Gladiators nearly made it a three-spot for the ECHL, but the Quebec League’s Rimouski Oceanic reeled them in over the weekend and won by just a handful of votes to become the only club remaining from the Canadian major junior leagues.

The Everblades open the 2008-09 season on Oct. 17 at Germain Arena.
