Miracle’s Robertson hurls shutout

JUPITER — Fort Myers Miracle starter Tyler Robertson tossed seven innings of shutout ball to pace the Miracle to a 5-0 victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads Tuesday night.

Robertson was dominant in his start, scattering just three hits, walking three and fanning four.

Brian Dinkelman walked to start the Miracle first and scored two hitters later on Danny Valencia’s double to left. Edward Ovalle scored the second run. Ovalle led off the second inning with a triple to right-center, later scoring on Wilson Ramos’ groundout to second.

Whit Robbins and Ovalle started the Miracle fourth with a pair of leadoff singles to set the table for a couple of two-out base hits. After Danny Berg’s walk extended the inning, back-to-back run-scoring singles to left by Yangervis Solarte and Yancarlos Ortiz gave the Miracle a four-run cushion. Valencia’s walk, sandwiched between walks to Juan Portes and Robbins, loaded the bases for Ovalle in the fifth. Ovalle, after a lengthy at-bat, ground edinto a double play, scoring Portes with the game’s final run.

Relievers Jose Lugo and Anthony Slama helped Robertson earn the shutout. Lugo gave up two hits with a walk and sa trikeout in a scoreless eighth. Slama worked around a two-out walk to strike out the side in the Hammerheads’ ninth.

The Miracle (29-16) go for their third win in four games with the Hammer-heads (22-23) Wednesday morning. Right-hander Cole Devries (2-4, 4.56) will start on the mound for the Miracle, who come home to host a four-game series with the Palm Beach Cardinals starting Thursday.
