Canterbury hires former pro player

John Robinson, a former Wales professional and World Cup soccer player, signed on this week to coach both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams at Canterbury School.

In making the announcement, Canterbury director of athletics Lee Peters said Robinson will be on campus Monday.

Robinson became a pro soccer player in 1988 and brings the experience of having made more than 500 appearances for several clubs in England and Wales. He played in the English Premiership with Charlton Athletic and competed against teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. He also played more than 30 games for Wales against World Cup teams from Portugal, Argentina, Holland, Brazil and Italy.
