The FGCU softball team received 17 votes in this week’s Ultimate College Softball Top 25 that was announced Tuesday.

It’s the third time this season that the Eagles have earned a vote in a Division 1 national poll.

“The national notoriety that we’ve received is huge for FGCU and is greatly appreciated,” said coach Dave Deiros. “Our team is playing very well right now, but we must continue to do our job as we grind through the rest of our conference schedule.”

FGCU has a 40-8 overall record, including winning 38 of their last 43 games. Senior Carmen Paez has been featured in Sports Illustrated and named A-Sun Player of the Week twice this season, while senior Rachael Edinger and freshman Morgan Campen each have earned an A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award.

The Eagles head to Miami to face Florida International Wednesday before hosting a pair of A-Sun foes in double-header action this weekend. FGCU battles with Kennesaw State Friday and Mercer Sunday.
