Four Cape wrestlers place at state meet

Four members of the Cape Coral Police Athletic League (PAL) wrestling team placed at the USA Wrestling Florida State Champion-ships last weekend in Naples.
More than 650 wrestlers from throughout the state competed in various age and weight divisions at Palmetto Ridge High School.
The youngest of the Cape foursome to place was Jacob Grafmyer, 8, a student at Diplomat Elementary School. In his first competitive tournament, Grafmyer placed third in the 75-pound division for 7-8 year-olds.
Christian Jurney, 12, was runner-up in the 98-pound division for 13-14 year-olds, losing the title match in overtime. Jurney attends Trafalgar Middle School.
Caloosa Middle School student Brandon Gacad, 14, won the 105-pound championship for 13-14 year-olds.
Jesse Whitt, 15, placed third in the 152-pound division for 15-16 year-olds. Whitt attends Cape Coral High School.
The Cape Coral PAL wrestling team is coached by Shawn Earhart and Jim Jurney.
