Haslem’s numbers not hurting by not starting

1 min read

Udonis Haslem is making the most of his role as a Miami Heat reserve.

Through the first week of the NBA season, Haslem is one of 15 players averaging at least 10 points and 10 rebounds per game.

The Heat forward, who lost his starting job before the season so Miami could get Michael Beasley more prominently into the lineup, is finding that coming off the bench isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Haslem is averaging 12.3 points and 10 rebounds for Miami (3-0), which is one of five remaining unbeaten teams in the NBA and plays another of those Tuesday when Phoenix visits.

Haslem is still getting his starter minutes, averaging more than 31 per game so far.
