‘Fins snag receivers on day two
Brian Hartline couldn’t catch Ted Ginn Jr. when they raced for the high school state hurdling title in Ohio, and Hartline’s unlikely to overtake Ginn on the Miami Dolphins’ depth chart.
The Dolphins, though, believe they bolstered the weakest part of the roster Sunday by selecting receivers Hartline and Patrick Turner with their first two second-day picks in the NFL draft.
Miami also drafted Monmouth tight end John Nalbone and Clemson safety Chris Clemons in the fifth round, added Georgia Tech tackle Andrew Gardner in the sixth round, and took inside linebacker J.D. Folsom of Weber State in the seventh round. First-day selections were Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis, West Virginia quarterback Pat White and Utah cornerback Sean Smith.
n Buccaneers: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers closed out their draft class by selecting Oregon State receiver Sammie Stroughter in the seventh round. The Bucs also had an earlier pick in the final round Sunday, and took Western Michigan cornerback E.J. Biggers.
The lone pick on Saturday was Kansas State quarterback Josh Freeman in the first round. The Bucs also took Texas tackle Roy Miller in the third round and Southern California end Kyle Moore in the fourth. Illinois offensive tackle Xavier Fulton was the fifth-round choice.
