So many of our favorite holidays are coming. Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, The New Year, this is a great time to give thanks for our libraries, where else can we find a place that will provide us with so many hours of free entertainment, books, computers, DVDs to mention just a few. With all our libraries dealing with the cuts in staff, collection, and programs, Our Friends of the Cape Coral Library are stepping up to the plate and funding many of our programs for children, teens, and adults. Our November Book Sale brought us over $7,000 that the Friend’s will use to help with the shortfall in library programs and equipment. Our small “honor” on going book sale has proved very successful. Where else can you buy gently used good hardcover and paperbacks for a few dollars, and the proceeds helps with our library programs.

You can also lend a helping hand. Do you love your library? Enjoy people? Familiar with computers? Like getting involved? If you answered yes to any of these questions we need you. Ask to speak to the Volunteer Coordinator at the library for more information about volunteer opportunities at the library.

Art Quilters Unlimited is a group of fiber artists who, through frequent local exhibits has created a unique niche in the local art community. They are a group of 75 artists who have chosen fiber as their medium. Their quilts are art and once seen it is obvious that they belong on a wall and not on a bed.

Membership ranges from novices all the way to those who have exhibited nationally and whose work can be found in various art galleries around the country. Visit them on their web site www.artquiltersunlimited.com

Southwest Florida Quilters Guild. These talented fiber artists will also be exhibiting their mini-quilts.
