To the editor:

I am going to guess Paul Kiefner, who wrote the letter titled “evidence” in the Jan. 23 issue, is a Democrat. His comments so closely match that party’s playbook.

Regarding comments about a disappointing economy — third quarter 2025 GDP grew 4.4%, the best in years. The Atlanta Federal Reserve sees a 5.4% growth in 2025 fourth quarter! As some analysts describe it, “the U.S. economy is roaring.”

A number of the anti-ICE “protesters” are the same who are protesting similar efforts fabricated by Democrats.  Any thinking person knows the purpose of this effort is to keep illegal aliens in place so they can be counted in the census, raising the number of Democrat members of Congress. Most horror stories about ICE behavior are fabricated or, at best, exaggerated.

That the letter writer used terms such as “villain,” “immoral motives” and “malicious motives” to describe President Trump is sad.  He accused him of “rudderless leadership.”  What did he say about the prior president who often couldn’t even lead himself off a stage?

The writer refers to Barack Obama as model leader. Obama and his wife, very early in his term, said that the America we had known for years would be no more; “you won’t recognize America.”  Their prediction came true. With his leadership the subject of racism was used in just about every consideration, and began to be one of the prime factors in government decisions.

The letter criticized Trump using the term “rigged” regarding the 2020 election. The fact is that in elections from 2004 to 2020 the winning popular vote was (in millions) 62, 69, 65, 63, 81. Taking advantage of the opportunity COVID offered, unrequested ballots were sent to every registered voter in some states, ballot drop boxes were set up all over, vote counting days extended way past established deadlines, ballots were allowed to be delivered by other than the voter, and promoting mail-in ballots by people who could be easily influenced by partisans;  what more is needed to qualify as “rigging”?

By the way, typical of nearly all Democrat criticisms of President Trump, the writer’s letter produced no actual EVIDENCE of specific actions, only the “party line” of insinuation.
