It’s the economy
To the editor:
The economy with the price of eggs and groceries was discussed 110-plus times per day in the last election. This was one slogan and repeated over and over again. Voters knew that pocketbook issues affected their family the most and wanted a change.
I have seen the urgency and the concern regarding the current economic landscape in the United States, in my family, friends and neighbors. I am discontent with recent political decisions and the impact in everyday life. I look at issues like the tariffs, business closures and the potential for the recession and I stress the importance of being proactive in voting and participating in our political process. The stock market is down and experiencing great volatility, the recession odds are being announced by bankers and investors, the GDP is down at .3% and the cost of living is going up.
China is part of the BRIC alliance and shifting global trade and changing the dynamics in international relations. Other countries are adopting and forming new alliances while the U.S. grapples with its own challenges.
This is a call to action and citizens must stay informed, and engage the Lee County, state and national governance and must be an advocate for responsible economic policies.
Civic participation is significant in making informed choices in the ballot box.
Vote for positive change and ways to influence positive change in our community.
