To the editor:

The national debt increased by almost $8 trillion under Trump and the Republican Congress. Now the Republicans threaten to default on our country’s obligations that they incurred. Please — explain to me, again, how anyone can believe that the Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility. And how America remains a functioning democracy.
