Public involvement in water quality, canal cleanup process, to be applauded

To the editor:

Bravo on the recent article about inshore water quality. It goes well with the canal clean up article. Certainly the public needs to get involved in both. Like the story says, politicians love an apathetic public.

Cape Coral Breeze is doing their part. I’m just visiting while my stepson is beginning his life with stage 4 cancer at GCMC.

The striping of canal banks to remove minor tree branches and other debris is no doubt motivated by unabated greed and disregard for the natural environment. Let alone driving up the cost per ton of unnatural debris removal. A crew called the police on some citizens who were trying to protect burrowing owls. I would have stood my ground.

We need activism now on these matters.
