To the editor:

Kudos to the cast and crew of The Sound of Music presented at Cultural Park Theater. This was probably the best production we have ever seen on this theater’s stage. The lead character of “Maria,” played by Christina Thurmond, was especially outstanding. We were also impressed with the acting and singing of the children led by “Liesel,” played by Averie Carlson and the singing of Kieran Strosser as the “Mother Abbess.” All-in-all the music far surpassed what we expected.

Kudos also to the staging and direction of the play by Cathy James, her first production at Cultural Park. The theater’s stage is small while the scope of the play is enormous, but Ms. James utilized clever props and backdrops to bridge the gap. We hope this isn’t her only directing experience at Cultural Park!

We would encourage the residents of Cape Coral to enjoy this excellent production while it’s available. The evening is certainly a bright light in an otherwise dismal winter!
