To the editor: Are Cape elections really non-partisan?

To the editor:

To the editor: The City of Cape Coral website states that our municipal elections are non-partisan. Incumbents and challengers do not, or can not declare party affiliation. But that doesn’t mean individual candidates are non-partisan, it just means you have to look a little harder to tell who’s who.

It’s interesting to note who is contributing to our candidates.

The 78 Political Committee based in Orlando, has donated cash to the Florida Democratic Party ($35K), several Florida county Democratic Parties; Broward ($12.5K), Hillsborough ($8K), Osceola ($2.5K), Charlie “Thank God for Joe Biden” Crist ($1K), and Nikki Fried ($1K).

That same 78 Political Committee has donated cash to John Gunter ($1K), Jennifer Nelson ($1K), and Keith Long ($1K). They could have said “no thanks” and returned the checks, but all three accepted the liberal support.

Does Cape Coral want a liberal City Council? I don’t
