‘Threat to democracy?’ Biden failed to walk the walk when country called

4 min read

To the editor:

As President Joe Biden’s political speech on Sept. 1 talks of belonging to the other party as a “threat to democracy, it was abundantly clear this was nothing more than another political speech to encourage those to vote Democratic on Nov. 8.

The unfortunate deliverance of this speech from a guy, whose past actions, has no idea what protecting democracy means.

In protecting America’s democracy we all have a responsibility to serve this great nation regardless of what side of the political aisle we sit on. Many of our nation’s predecessors knew the true meaning of protecting our nation’s democracy through sacrifice in the protection of our freedoms and democracy by asking, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”

Standing at a podium talking of threats to our democracy fails to deliver the true threats to democracy that exist not only on both sides of the aisle, but also in the streets of America.

President Joe, you were not concerned with the threats to democracy when evading the draft five times through student deferments and getting a medical exemption for teenage asthma, yet continuing to play football and sports throughout high school and college. And again, let me not restrict this draft dodging, a criminal offense, to just you and your party, but to many in our Congressional and other leadership on both sides of the aisle.

As many of your predecessors and political colleagues elected to occupy the White House and Congressional positions, you have no idea what true sacrifice and commitment to serving and protecting our nation’s freedoms means. Democracy is about “No Greater Love” in serving this great nation. “A veteran is someone that wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America for up to and including their life.” Your actions when called upon to serve this great nation were to evade your patriotic duty.

I have yet to hear from you and others guilty of turning your back on the United States of America a mea culpa for your past actions. Yet, you claim to know about the true meaning of democracy and the threats imposed on democracy.

The true threat to democracy is not only what we saw at the attempted insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, but also the insurrection of the Seattle Police Department and the insurrection from riots of destruction and theft in many cities across our nation with little to no media coverage. And more importantly, no coverage, in any occurred, of indictments and prosecution of these other forms of insurrection.

No investigation to President Joe Biden’s Afghanistan debacle that resulted in 13 American service members’ deaths coupled with hundreds of Afghans being killed by IEDs in the so-called evacuation of Afghanistan. This debacle left thousands of American civilians and contractors in harm’s way. The Administration left behind weapons and cash from the collapsed government for the Taliban to continue funding the spreading of violence and death. Again, no mea culpa for your actions.

You closed construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline on Jan. 21, 2021 which would have been capable of bringing in 830,000 barrels of crude oil a day to the United States, while you continued to buy 595,000 barrels a day from Russia.

Going on with your past questionable practices is fruitless. It is apparent you continue to hide from “Harms Way” today, as you did in the past, in not accepting responsibility for your actions. And, I blame this lack of Americanism for many of those on both sides of the aisle in our leadership.

You can now understand why many Americans lack the trust and confidence of your leadership. So before you speak of your “Divine Providence” in saving democracy, please take a step back in understanding the true “No Greater Love” that comes with the sacrifices in protecting and preserving our freedoms for democracy.

And, please do not interpret this as my acceptance of the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection and all the insurrections written about above. I condemned these insurrections then and I condemn them now,

President Joe Biden, only “let you without sin cast the first stone.”
