A big Thank You
To the editor:
I want to commend The Breeze newspaper editors and staff for once again being a leader in educating the voters of Cape Coral. Your “question of the week” and letters to the editor allow EVERY candidate a chance to be heard. Often money is the determining factor as to who the political winner is in most elections. By fostering a forum of information, directly from the candidates themselves, you have “leveled the playing field” and allow less well connected and financed citizens a chance to get their message out to the voters as they run for office. Thank you, for myself and all the voters who took the time to vote in the primary election August 23. Moving forward, I look for your continuing coverage to help me form my choices for the local and state races on Nov. 8.
I also wish to challenge every member of the current Cape Coral council to bring back our tradition of the city sponsored candidate forum televised on CapeTV. Our current city manager Rob Hernandez and staff stopped that (I presume due to Covid concerns). It is now time to bring this forum back! Once again, it levels the playing field for all the candidates and helps our citizens make the best informed choices. If we want a better city, it starts with the best people to run our city council. Need I remind you, the city manager works for you the city council and you work for the citizens of Cape Coral. Please bring back the CapeTV televised candidates forum.
