Much for which to be thankful

By Staff | Nov 18, 2021

To the editor:

As we approach Thanksgiving, there is good news to be grateful for.

In February, unemployment was 6.3% and the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projected it would take until the end of 2023 for the nation to reach 4.6% unemployment.

But, because of the American Rescue Plan that passed in March without a single Republican vote, the unemployment rate fell to 4.6% this week. Two years earlier than projected.

Since Biden took office, the U.S. has added 5.6 million jobs. That is more than the last three Republican administrations combined.

All U.S. stock markets closed Friday, Nov. 5, at record highs.

Also on Nov. 5, the $1.2 trillion dollar infrastructure plan passed with a bipartisan vote. More good jobs will soon be on the way.

More jobs have been created this year than any year since 1950, despite the aggressive delta variant and a pervasive anti-vaccine campaign by some extremists. Good jobs and a growing economy spells good news for the nation.
