For shame

By Staff | Aug 12, 2021

To the editor:

The White House celebrated Pride Month in June but ignored Purple Heart Day. The clock struck midnight on Aug. 8 Eastern time without an official recognition of Purple Heart Day.

Purple Heart Day. The White House official channel was silent on the matter of honoring our wounded and fallen warriors.

Unfortunately much of our national and local media also failed to recognize, and remained silent on this matter of honoring our wounded and fallen warriors.

Thank you Mr. President, even after many overlooked your five-time deferment (draft dodging), as did many Americans (and former presidents) during the Vietnam War. Although, your deferments were related to your claim of asthma. I must question, with such a condition why you were able to continue to play football and be a lifeguard.

Mr. President, you and your colleagues should be ashamed of yourself. You can recognize some movements involving criminal activities and invite them to the White House to be honored. Yet, you fail to recognize and honor our wounded and fallen warriors whose sacrifices afforded you the opportunity to be President.

Shame on you Mr. President, and shame on you America for not honoring our true heroes whose sacrifices gave all of us our freedoms with no recognition on that solemn day.

This not directed at any party affiliation, but rather what it means to be a true leader.

Jack Wagner, Commander
