My narrative

By Staff | Jun 25, 2021

To the editor:

In her May 27 Guest Commentary, Tiffany Esposito encourages the readership to “Keep calm and share your beach pictures” of the pristine beaches despite the contrary reports in the media and the photographs of dead fish.

Richard Wallace, in his June 17 Letter To The Editor wrote: “I do not understand how anybody can call Biden president or Harris vice president,” even though they won the election.

“Inside The Controlled Chaos of Downing Street,” Tom McTague’s article in the latest Atlantic, is based on his interview with Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In the article Johnson states, and I paraphrase: “People do not want the truth or facts, they want a narrative they can believe.”

My narrative, is that I think that Johnson is on to something truthful. How a person feels is often weighted more heavily than the facts or the truth. Right now, I am feeling that Southwest Florida has a dirty water problem and that the prevailing calm in the country is the result of the Biden presidency.
