Council complacency contributing to trash collection woes

2 min read

To the editor:

A terse note for the city regarding Waste Pros incompetency and city complacency:

I’ve had it with putting material out for collection week after week and having it ignored.

And, as far as I’m concerned, the city council’s members are complacent with an attitude of “I couldn’t care less” toward the situation. Just review your response to my complaint several weeks ago.

I called Waste Pro about their inability to pick up the trash and made a comment about dumping the waste in their front lawn with no response.

This has been going on for months now with little to nothing being done. Including city council’s attitude.

This past week, I was sitting in my garage and in waltzes a citrus rat. I haven’t seen one of these for years. Now that garbage is sitting around, are they making a full recovery of one rat per house?

What is it going to take to get the job done? Our over- assessed taxes are doing nothing but going into the city’s general funds. Are they being used to pay for completely unrelated pet projects?

Fines aside for Waste Pro, would a demand for taxpayer rebates be good enough to get the city’s attention? A “No Service, No Pay” theme seems to make sense. How about a $100 rebate to each property owner to compensate for complacency and incompetence?

Make something happen. Because, the alternative of garbage sitting idle in places it doesn’t belong is worse…. regardless whether it’s me or others that are just as fed up with the incompetence.
