College kids have a bar fight, city kids riot

To the editor:

The new anti-riot bill coming out at the same time as the recent verdict works out well for some. Not only wasn’t there a riot (which there would and should have been if he was acquitted) but now they can do an even better job at selectively arresting Blacks.

A bunch of drunk college kids (white) get in a fight, they scream and turn over a table breaking glassware. Some throw punches, some don’t. A bunch of Black kids get angry because, once again, one from their neighborhood is killed for a cigarette violations. They break glass, yell, and some throw punches. The latter is clearly who this law is set up to selectively arrest.

The idea that violence for drunken violence sake is boys will be boys, and citizens angry a grievance against police will get you arrested just for being there. Like George Orwell said in Animal Farm “all animals are created equal, some are just more equal than others.”

I say that about this law, Amazon and others pushing Black-owned or female-owned businesses, hate crime legislation, affirmative action, and a bunch of other stuff. As Bob Marley said “until the color of a man’s skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes, everywhere is war.”
