Cape sidewalk policy is all wet
To the editor:
Just how can the city of Cape Coral continue to allow the new construction of sidewalks in the swale below the outer edge of the roadway along which they run? Moreover, how can the city allow the continued operation of existing sidewalks of that sort?
In fact, those sidewalks belong 5 to 6 inches above the outer edges of the roadway, assuming that the roadway is, in fact properly, drained. (Not necessarily a given in Cape Coral.) Why?
When our children are confronted with this situation, they must either walk in often muddy, deep water or in the street, where their safety is seriously compromised by auto/truck traffic. Walking in such deep water is also a safety hazard.
Moms and dads, this issue deserves your vociferous fuss directed to the city of Cape Coral now!
