Time to turn America around

By Staff | Apr 15, 2021

To the editor:

I want to compliment Lou Walker for an excellent “Letter to the Editor” on April 9, “Sorry for America.” Your letter touched on so many of the ills that we now see in our nation today. As pointed out, this is a result of people in this country who would rather blame others than take a personal responsibility for their lives and actions. These are the same people that would rather praise those who never gave or sacrificed to the nation building of our country, than praise the sacrifices of our true heroes.

By no means does either side of our congressional aisle escape the ignorance of leading this country into this socialistic direction of entitlement, all in seeking their next vote.

I am not sure how our nation will recover back to the once asked, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” Many now in our leadership ranks were either the draft dodgers of Christmas Past or those who refused to give back to this nation for less than their initial elected salaries of $174,000 annually, not counting the many perks associated with that office.

Presenting a folded American Flag to a criminal’s family by our congressional leadership, while so many of our true American heroes lost their lives on foreign soil in the protection of our nation’s freedoms is a slap in the face to our true heroes. Our military, police officers and first responders deserve much more for their sacrifices.

Again Mr. Walker, an excellent letter to the editor in depicting the true America we live in today.

In saying Wake Up America, I am hoping and praying that we can turn this around and not leave this mess to our grandchildren.
