Bid to support wildlife

By Staff | Feb 25, 2021

To the editor:

The Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife Virtual Internet Auction is winding down but there still are lots of good bargains to be had — and for a great cause. The Friends invite you to look the auction over and bid.

This auction is in place of our Burrowing Owl Festival which we abandoned this year because of the COVID pandemic. This auction is our main fund raiser this year so we can go on protecting and preserving our burrowing owls and other wild animals. Bid often and high for our wildlife. Time is of the essence since the auction ends on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. We have a fine array of items to bid on, including some things added on Monday and Tuesday.

Some entries you might like to bid on (Bid info current at the time of this letter’s submission): Two tickets on the Key West Express, current bid is a bargain; a 14-ct gold necklace, 20 inches, no bids yet; Alliance for the Arts, family membership at $75; Babcock Ranch Swamp Buggy Tour for a family of four valued at $80, low bids on this eco valued tour; beautiful butterfly and wildlife T-shirts, click on the written heading and see five more great owl and other themed T-shirts for sale, no bids; Bush Gardens Tampa Bay single-day admission tickets for two, bid is less than half at what these tickets are worth; Capones pizza $50 certificate, new on Tuesday; Gator Mike’s Family Fun Park passes, bid is half what it is worth; six hand-painted pots with plants in them; Huffy Woman’s Bike, bid is about half the price; two beautiful rug, no bids; Carmen’s kayaks rentals, no bids, $75 value; Clyde Butcher $75 gift certificate, great value; three framed burrowing owl pictures; The DEK, $25 gift certificate; Shell Factory, low bid; Shy Wolf Society, a private tour for 8, value $600; eight children’s baskets themed for fun with plush animals, some with coloring books, but more importantly, all themed for reading with books for all levels of reading; Zak’s Jewelers in the Cape donated two beautiful sets of jewelry featuring owls.

They are more than 130 auction items. You have to see them to believe them.

CCFW will mail most items, but not all. Visit the website and click on the title and please read to see more about this. Most or all of small items will be picked up at Rotary Park or mailed. People taking trips with our environmentalists will call them to discuss meeting procedures. There are some field trips that are under valued. It’s great way to enjoy the outdoors and see wildlife.
