One last word
To the editor:
W. Edwards Deming, the world renowned management consultant, succently stated: “In God We Trust, all others must bring data.” To his point, the data are:
Electoral College totals for the 2020 Presidential
Election: Joe Biden 306, Donald Trump 232.
Popular vote: Biden 51.1%,
Trump 47.2%.
If you are so inclined, then thank God.
For the past several years, I have been writing focused Letters To The Editor with the bulk of them expressing unambiguous disdain for our coarse, uncultured President. Before I ever began writing a letter, I would spend considerable time carefully thinking about what I wanted to communicate. If used correctly in a meaningful context, words are a powerful method to express ideas cogently.
Among the many words I have chosen, there is one word I have never used because I did not think it was ever appropriate at the time I was writing any of my letters.
But now, that time has come to use this very special word. A word that is all-encompassing in its ability to convey thoughts that are rarely appropriate, hence, seldom used. Yet, in this context its use is absolutely befitting.
Therefore, with uninhibited joy and profound thoughtfulness, I have only “One Last Word” for Donald Trump as he further unravels, while being forcibly escorted from the White House: Schadenfreude.
