To the editor:
I want to thank the voters and residents of Cape Coral for their support and confidence in selecting me as the next Cape Coral City Council member, representing District 3. The campaign was a remarkable journey of conversation, sharing of ideas and learning. I am humbled by each vote I received and look forward to continuing this journey with residents and enhancing a community we can all be proud of.
I want to thank my family and friends for their support as well, especially my campaign manager and my wife, Joanne. When we decided to file for the seat over a year ago, we did not really know what was in front of us. Then came February and COVID and the campaign was sent in different directions. In-person events were cancelled or became virtual conversations. We had to find new ways to be relevant and reach people. We all adjusted and found ways to connect.
We ran the campaign we wanted, reaching as many voters as possible. There is always an energy in talking with people about their lives and how they see the city. I will never forget those conversations.
I want to thank the police, firefighters, general employees, Hispanic Vote, Families for Cape Coral’s Future, Pennies for Community Progress and many other groups for their support and work for us during the campaign. They helped us reach voters in many different ways.
To the residents, I will serve this community with respect, dedication, passion, communication, and collaboration. I look forward to embracing new ideas and meeting the challenges of a community dear to my heart.
