Thank a police officer
To the editor:
I would first like to start by introducing myself. My name is Skylar Muncy, and I am a seventh grader attending a local Lee County School.
I am writing this letter to hopefully inform the citizens of Cape Coral about a lingering national issue that has been going on for quite some time; disrespect towards our law enforcement. I believe that most young Americans do not respect our police officers like they should. These courageous law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day knowing it could be their last. They have sworn to protect and serve no matter what. Don’t they deserve appreciation?
It is a strong belief of mine that the men and women of the police department have our best interests at heart. If they didn’t, why would they do what they do on our behalf every single day? The answer is that they do it because they love helping people, they love helping us.
Why would someone even consider disrespecting a law enforcement officer when they would do anything in their power to make sure that we are safe? These valiant officers would put themselves in harm’s way if it meant they could save someone’s life.
In closing, I would like to ask all of the citizens of Cape Coral to consider thanking the next police officer they encounter for their service to the citizens of our community. Without these brave men and women Cape Coral would be a very different, more dangerous place to live.
