A Day Without Immigrants
To the editor:
Well it was decided that Thursday, Feb. 16, would be National A Day Without Immigrants. Let me begin by saying that America loves and appreciates legal immigrants. We understand that they are here paying taxes and supporting the economy just as all of us.
There are far too many in the United States who are not here legally and do not have green cards. They are the ones who are taking the American jobs away, not paying taxes, taking from our educational facilities and teachers and a drain on our medical supplies. There are many of those who are here illegally who are committing a large portion of the crimes. Primarily these are the ones that President Trump is trying to deport. I fail to understand why immigrants who are here legally, though they may be from the same country or region, are showing their support for the ones who are here illegally.
I do not know who came up with the idea of this Day Without Immigrants, but this idea of not going to school or work on this particular day has done no more than cause a lot of inconvenience to the people who are financially supporting them.
And so far as getting President Trump’s attention, you may have been successful but in a negative way. I’m sure that the people who have previously supported his intent to deport illegals will only be angered and probably try to encourage and even more rapid with severe deportation.
