Cape Coral mayor not needed

There are 137,932 taxable parcels in Cape Coral. About 80 percent of the properties have at least two owners by marriage, partnership, etc. Therefore, there are nearly 248,278 property owners (stakeholders) in Cape Coral. The Cape Coral mayor is not a stakeholder; thus, does not have any skin in the game. Yet every time the mayor has a fantasy, it cost the stakeholders hundreds of dollars and we end up with silly codes and regulations. The problem is how we select our leaders.
We do not need to be in the utility, electric, golf course, real estate, or construction businesses. We cannot afford, compete, or manage business infrastructures and technology changes to achieve any kind of ROI (return on investment).
C’mon, man! Cape Coral needs a better governance for the stakeholders.
The Cape Coral council should eliminate the mayor and city manager positions and focus on finding, hiring, and retaining a single leader, a CEO. Just like FGCU and their search for a president. We need a CEO who is qualified and not politically motivated. Someone who will be compensated properly and given all the authority needed to provide stakeholder satisfaction and move the city forward.
Council members should continue to represent the stakeholders in their districts, but play the role as advisers; and support the CEO. We simply cannot fake good common sense government, leadership and responsibility.
