The issue is terrorism, not guns
To the editor:
All of the people who are crying “take away the right to own guns” should think before they act. The shooting in Orlando was a tragic event to have happened but let’s look at what was really behind this terrible act by a coward.
The act was terrorism – not just someone who hated the gay community but a person who hated his country, for the shooter was born here in the States and was not a foreigner. Yes, his parents were from Afghanistan and he was raised as a Muslim but that does not mean the gun was at fault.
We need to know all of the facts here. First, buying a gun of any kind is not as easy as some think, you have to fill out paper work and summit it to the proper agency which, here in Florida, is the Florida Department of Law enforcement. The FDLE checks to see if you have any felonies. Even at gun shows, you still have background checks to do. When our leaders figure out that this is an act of terrorism and not some jerk out to see their name in the news will we be safe. So let’s talk about how we can stop terrorism and keep the country safe form terrorism not on how to keep guns out of law abiding citizen’s hands. Remember guns do not kill people but people use them to kill just like knives and hammers and rocks. So lets stop calling for more gun control but for more terrorist control
