Food for thought on guns and gun control

3 min read

To the editor:

This letter is to everybody that thinks dropping the Second Amendment or changing the meaning of it.

Here is some food for thought:

When you think that the Orlando Islamic terrorist doesn’t represent all Muslims, why does he represent all gun owners?

Hillary stated if you are under investigation by the F.B.I, you should not be able to buy a gun. I say if you are under investigation by the F.B.I. you should not be able to run for president either!!

Now take a look at the mass shootings. Fort Hood, Texas, 13 dead 33 wounded. The shooter was a self-defined Islamic terrorist. Boston, Mass., five dead, 280 injured. The killers were self-defined Islamic terrorists. Paris, 136 dead, 352 wounded. The killers were Islamic terrorists. Madrid, 191 dead, 2050 injured, The killers were Islamic terrorists. Chattanooga, Tenn., six dead, two injured. The killer was a self-defined Islamic terrorist. Orlando, 49 dead, 53 wounded.. The killer was a self-defined Islamic terrorist.

France has the strictest gun laws of any place in Europe where no civilians are allowed to have guns; the terrorists had no problem bringing in full auto machine guns to do their killing. People were yelling afterwards if they had been able to have guns maybe it could have been different.

One other thing I do not understand: Why is it taking the F.B.I. such a long time to bring charges against Hillary? If she had been a Republican, “heaven forbid!!” The Democrats would be finding a big oak tree to throw the noose over.

Another cry you hear from the people – why do they have assault weapons?? The people that own AR-15s – which, by the why, there are over 9 million of them in the U.S.A – I will bet most are honest citizens. For your information, military rifles that are referred to as an “assault rifle” have a select switch that can be fired full automatic as long as you have bullets in the magazine and you squeeze the trigger back, it will fire until you release the trigger. They can also be switched from full automatic to semi automatic meaning you squeeze the trigger for each shot -?which is the civilian version. I do not own one and just never had the desire to own one.

My feelings are, if you are a person that enjoys going to the range and practice shooting, then that’s your business and a great weapon for you and your family’s protection.

I have a friend here in Florida that is a class 3ffl dealer which means he buys and sells full auto machine guns. Most people believe that nobody can own a full auto machine gun. For your info there are several thousand in Florida that are owned by civilians. You never hear of anybody committing a crime with one. If you can afford $20,000 to $30,000 or more for one and wait up to a year for the FBI and other requirements, included in the background check, and can afford to buy one, with the cost of ammo that they use – like 900 rounds a minute – that can be pretty darn expensive.

Guns are not the problem, terrorists are.
