A pledge for the country’s voters
To the editor:
This pledge is my personal pledge to support and vote for ONLY those elected officials in Congress and the White House with the intellect and resolve to cease the present financial practices that will surely bankrupt the USA. We need change and we need it immediately. We need to get rid of both the deficit and the national debt. The practice of continually raising the national debt ceiling is totally irresponsible.
This practice must cease.
We must live and operate within our financial means as a nation. I plan to email this to all my friends and urge them to do likewise. All elected officials that fail to participate in a permanent solution must be replaced at the next election. All of their mailing addresses, their voting records, and their attendance is available on the internet. Use it to keep them open and above board.
I will be mailing out a copy of this pledge to the White House, all Florida members of Congress, and a few other key officials in Congress. Those with the most visibility & opinions. Please contact your individual representatives in Congress.
THE PLEDGE
I pledge to urge my Senators and Members of the House of Representatives to oppose any debt limit increases unless all three of the following conditions have been met:
1. CUT Substantial cuts in spending that will reduce the deficit next year & thereafter.
2. CAP Enforceable spending caps that will put federal spending on a path to a balanced budget.
3. BALANCE Congressional passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution- but only if it included both a spending limitation and a supermajority for raising taxes, in addition to balancing revenues and expenses.
I find it really troubling to be necessary to initiate such a pledge. If our national debt was not currently increasing at the rate of $1 million every 84 seconds!!!! 24/7/365, every day of the year, we would not be facing such a dire predicament. Such evidence reflects a complete of lack of competent leadership. Let’s change each and every one of them in the next election!
