The ‘Many’ need to take control

2 min read

To the editor:

This election year and the political situation as it presently exists should be seen by even the most casual observers as conclusive proof that our experiment in Representative Democracy has proved to be pretty much of a miserable failure so far as the interests of most of the People -most of the Many – are concerned. There seems to be no prospect of any change outside of getting yet better for the Few and worse for the Many.

The operational target is the human frailty of our “representatives” and the weapon is simply money – lots of it. By that means, the wealth of the nation has been diverted from the Many and concentrated into the hands of the Few – hands which still busy themselves doling out yet further “money of corruption” in a manner intended to secure their immediate purposes and then to secure their long-term agenda, the natural interests of the Many counting not even one whit.

The Few are both conscienceless and very, VERY clever and persuasive, having convinced many of the Many that their interests coincide quite nicely with the agenda of the Few – The process of inducing such a gross hallucination is called a “snow job” in the vernacular – and it appears that it has been a dense and almost non-believably effective “snow job,” too : Just look around at your fellows.

So, What is the solution ?

The solution, I believe – but cannot prove – is for we citizens to vote not for representatives, but rather to vote directly upon issues. Let any “interest,” large or small, wealthy or poor, propose a matter of governance (a “law”). Let the matter be discussed for a period – However, all statements of fact shall be delivered under oath- so woe be to he who distorts the verifiable facts or simply lies ! Opinions are OK as long as they are clearly labeled as such.

Then let the Few & the Many vote. For the few of the Few who cannot accept the outcome, Switzerland, etc, beckons- But let their enterprises not expect to conduct any future dealings with OUR economy !
