There is a water crisis

To the editor:

Many areas in our country and around the world are running out of water. Our water supply in Florida is also threatened.

Many municipalities, businesses, and organizations are expressing concerns about this problem. Our Secretary of the Interior said, “Water is a huge challenge in this country and I think we all know that.” She added “It is important we have all hands on deck.”

Municipalities in Florida are adopting clean water policies. They are demanding a fix to water pollution problems of this state.

Municipalities are also banning franking.

Fracking is bad for our environment and uses excessive amount of water, which is not recoverable. Franking creates sink holes and seismic activity.

There is no critical need for energy gasses as our country is exporting them.

Environmentally friendly sources of energy are also readily available.

However, our state legislature has adopted legislation forcing local communities to abandon their ban on fracking.

Many were expecting legislation from our legislators to protect our water supply. However, it seems according to recent commentaries, this legislation will make our water supply problem worse and push us in to a crisis.

Save our nation. Save our state. Save our water. Ban fracking. Please pass sensible legislation which will protect our water and not pollute.
