The federal government is our problem

To the editor:

The Free market is an illusion. We must manage the market. Deregulation caused the financial crisis of 2008. We have done little to fully recover and are still deregulating (Dodd-Frank financial regulations). Trillions in household wealth was lost in the recession. The middle class is paying the burden for financial bailout, tax cuts for rich and corporate America and paying the for war.

Free trade is also an illusion. We have a growing trade deficit. We have lost more than 5.5 million jobs. Many of our large corporations are now offshore. Most of our R and D is in foreign countries. The leading sectors of our GDP growth were consumer spending, professional services and housing. Income inequality is at pre-depression levels. Wages are flat and production is low.

Yes, government is the problem. They are fighting among themselves and filling their pockets, not working for America. This has been going on for sometime but especially more in the past 16 years.

Wake up, America. We must start a program to help ourselves. Start by buying only what we need. Buy only what is made in America. Remember buying at Walmart is not cheap. Cheap gas is also not cheap. We should be using it sparingly. Gas prices will go up.

We must vote and organize .

Can this country fight another war? Where is the will, equipment, firepower and muscle going to come from?

Yes! Wake up America. Government should work for us.
