I have to say that at times life could be bleak – except for the “Comedy of the Right” showering continually and plentifully down upon us!
Take, for example, the Climate Change Denialiacs: They claim that the climate scientists lie, that they are committing financial perfidy in their own interests; Research grants – this, while their darlings, the domestic corporate and mega-multi-national corporations, have their long grasping fingers into the wallets of each of us and hoard/hide their proceeds in offshore banks in Europe and the Caribbean instead of investing in America for jobs in America.
The Right claims that this occurs because U.S. corporate tax rates are the highest anywhere – stop right there. Let us talk now about effective tax rates, what is actually paid after all the hidden fine-print corporate welfare is reckoned with!
It was recently revealed that Boeing, General Electric and Verizon together made $81 billion in profits over the last five years and paid taxes of $0.00. In fact, they received money from the government tax rebates some “high tax rate,” wouldn’t you say?
Folks, you are, with your very own consent (vote GOP), being taken for a very nice ride! You have been financially and politically had. Enjoy! Tsk, tsk!
