Berm needed on Burnt Store Road
To the editor:
The widening of the Burnt Store Road project that has barely started needs a berm put in place for the protection, safety and preservation of this neighborhood.
There is a berm in place that stretches along Veterans Boulevard to the Veterans Bridge. It would be poor planning if a berm is not put in place for the safety and beautification of this neighborhood.
This issue must be addressed by the county commissioners, the Department of Transportation, as well as any other party involved in this expansion planning. When road widening comes too close to a citizen’s property, a berm is needed for safety, noise and beautification of a neighborhood. These are always set in place along wide roads with high speed and traffic throughout the state of Florida. Preservation of people’s property values and neighborhoods should not be neglected.
I really believe that Lee County is missing the ball on this project.
