Candidate did not approve, does not condone negative mailer

To the editor:

I would like to address a flier that has been circulating throughout the city of Cape Coral. I have heard it was mailed to approximately 9,000 residents and discusses the incumbent’s voting record in District 2, among other topics. I, Kirk LaGrasta, a Candidate for the District 2 Council Seat, did not approve, nor do I condone, such a circulation. I would encourage residents to look at my Treasury report filings and you will find that I did not have the funds available to do such a massive printing and mailing of said materials. At the bottom left corner of the flier, you will see who is responsible for this mailing, and it would seem this flier may be a result of a personal conflict between the former mayor and the incumbent.

I urge the good citizens to judge a person based on their character and, more importantly, to vote for the candidate who is most aligned with your political views. Also, vote for the person that will work the hardest to improve your quality of life and make Cape Coral a better place in which to live. The focus should always remain on these important issues and not on negative smear campaign tactics. We must unite the residents of the Cape and not divide them.

I would also like to thank Marilyn Stout for her many years of service to our community and for publicly announcing her support for me as a Candidate in District 2. Marilyn Stout is a professional who stayed neutral until all of the debates were completed before making this important decision. Thank you, Marilyn, for your endorsement.

I thank all of the citizens for their support. I’m excited for the future, for the opportunity to serve all of the residents, and to have their voices heard on Nov. 3.

Let’s make this a better city and a better community for current and future generations!

Kirk LaGrasta

Candidate, District 2
