Carpetbagger Trump #2
To the editor:
What a difference 13 years does not make. That’s right folks; it was a short 13 years ago that a Republican President and Vice President stood before us with their carpet bags full of lies and false promises. With one goal in mind, that being to lead us into a war we had no business going into. Who could forget Chaney telling us the Iraq oil would pay for the war and the Iraq people would welcome us with open arms as their liberators or Bush promising Iraq did in fact have weapons of mass destructing? Not me, I refuse to forget, however the American people did buy into this line of bull, hook, line and sinker, we can all see what a terrible mistake that war was. Well, we’ve gone full circle now, except we have a Presidential candidate, not a sitting President with the same carpet bag full of lies and promises. Before we were pretty much stuck with Bush, this time we have the choice to elect or not elect.
Once again I am amazed to hear and see the type of intelligent people who are actually supporting Donald Trump and his unending line of insults, egotistical, self centered remarks we have endured on a daily bases. That would include people who are supporting him right here in our own community. People, who in the past have expressed some form of human intelligence, people who have a rather slanted view of how they see the world order. People who should be ashamed of the name calling and spitball throwing they express in their letters, ranting on and on with their hate and discontent of all things without their blessing and especially all things relating to our President, but none the less, these wacko birds have the appearance of having the ability to put two sentences together. How can these people look at this carpet bagger, Trump, and not see right through him and his rhetoric? How can they not see Trump for what he is, all bluster with no substance? Well by now I’m sure they’re asking me, how can you say that Healy? Can’t you read? Just look at the front of Mr. Trump’s baseball cap. It says “Make America Great Again”. Yes, I can read, hear and use my brain to put two and two together. Why can’t you?
Let us take a serious look at the one and only program Trump has sort of defined with some level of specifics.
Immigration:
“I’m going to build a fence to keep all of the illegals out, and it will be as high as the ceiling of the room we’re in right now. Trust me, I’ll get it done.” That’s it Trump? That’s it? OK. Tell us how it will be financed? Oh, I forgot, Mexico is going to pay for it. How’s that going to work Mr. Trump? Are we to send a bill to Mexico and they’re going to send us a check? I don’t think that is going to happen. How are you going to obtain ownership of the land to build this fence upon? What about the permits required and who’s going to issues them and under what building code jurisdiction will be used to design this fence. What about the environmental impact studies? The traffic impact studies. The wildlife studies. And on and on into the red tape quagmire required for this kind of an under taking. It will take way more than a wave of the arm and a “I’ll get it done.”
“We’re going to deport all of the illegal’s in our country, that’s right; they’ve all got to go”. Oh, really Mr. Trump? Have you seen what’s going on in Europe with the migration of 3 million refuges? What a mess. What have you got in mind for 11 million Mexican refuges you’re planning to kick out of the country? What about their families? What about the paper work, transportation, food, water, toilet facilities, temporary housing during the transfer, the drain on our own border agents and other officers, what about providing for emergency medical care. Maybe your answer is to simply beat them over the head with a baton and make them go away. Mr. Trump, I don’t believe you will be able to find half of the illegals let alone deport them.
Trump says no more “anchor babies.” Oh, really? I ask, what are you going to do about the 14th Amendment of our Constitution? You say your lawyers are looking into that, as if that makes it a done deal. You can’t be serious. Don’t you know it is next to impossible to change or eliminate an Amendment of our Constitution? Not even if King Trump says it shall be done.
For all of you good Christian folks who are sucked in by this Broadway Trump guy. Let me remind you of the back story about him raising the Bible and claiming that this is his favorite book of which he reads all of the time. In actuality when asked after that disgusting use of the Bible as a prop only to sell himself to the Christian right, he could not tell the interviewer one book, one chapter, one verse of which he could recite as his favorite. How low can this sleazebag go? I guess there is no place low enough in the slime pit that this New York carpetbagger will not go to sell his line of BS.
What is the plan to answer the employers of your own party, including the Chamber of Commerce, who oppose the whole idea of not having any more cheap labor to depend upon to get the job done at a low rate so they can stuff more money into their own pockets?
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this guy is all bluster and no substance. He likes to paint over the details with a broad brush, IE, “Trust me,” “I’ll get it done.” “I’m going to fix that,” I’m going to have my lawyers look into that.” Can you imagine what the Republicans would be saying if Hillary Clinton said such loosey-goosey things? Just listen to his speeches and interviews, they are all mouth. Nothing but pointing out what’s wrong with our country and the deals that has been made, no solutions, no real alternatives, no details, no specifics, just his standard rant. This guy has got nothing. Hell, a high school political science student could come up with a better stump speech. To think that there are those poor souls who are actually buying all of this BS is amazing.
How did we get to place where we’re talking about a guy who has not got a clue what it really takes to run this government of ours. He is a rich guy from the private sector. Let me remind you folks of the last rich Republican from the private sector to hold the Presidency of the United States. It was Herbart Hoover (1929-1933). Recognize those dates? That’s right, the great Depression Oct. 1929. Herbart Hoover led us into that crippling depression and couldn’t come close to leading us out of it. That’s why he only served for one term and one term only. The fact is the ground rules are completely different in the private sector from the public sector. Now, I’ve got to tell you it pains me greatly to say this, but if you need a political job completed then call a politician, not a CEO. If you have a leaky faucet, call a plumber, not a carpenter.
Herein lies the problem.
We have elected our representatives, dressed them up and sent them off to our state and national capitals with no supervision on our part. We trusted them to take care of their end of the agreement they made with us and we would take care of our end. Like calves being led to slaughter, we not only gave these crooks our blind trust, we gave them an unending supply of money. In the end our complete inability to get off of our butts and let these mutts know whose boss. We are the actually the ones who caused this train wreck we are involved in right now, to happen. Then, in our complete stupidity of epic proportions we re-elected them only to witness their utter disregard for all things, except to get re-elected again by us.
Then, you ask, what are we to do?
I think the answer to that question is a long way off, but for now, the answer is definitely not Donald Trump. Why, you say? Well, for my money he doesn’t have the class nor the moral fiber nor the raw character this Great nation needs for our leader. There is no question in my mind this “would be President” will flame out sooner or later. Oh, what a wonderful light show that’s going to be.
