A dear friend will be missed
To the editor:
Joe Peluso was one of those people that you could always count on in a pinch. He worked in the Utilities Department for the city of Cape Coral. Like so many of his co-workers, when a problem occurred, they all come forward to do what ever it takes to get things up and running. We hear a lot about “first responders” in the context of Police & Fire, but the citizens of this city have no idea of the time and effort put forth by these guys. Sewer and water lines break in the middle of the night. Can it wait until the morning? No it can’t. The citizens of Cape Coral take for granted that when they turn on the shower in the morning the water will run and when they flush the toilet it will go down the drain. That’s thanks to the Utilities Department.
Joe Peluso passed away last week. He was on one of the emergency calls for a sewer line break a few years ago. He contracted a blood infection that was very aggressive and it resulted in the amputation of both legs to save his life. He continued working because that was the type of man he was. It’s hard to fathom how someone so strong and robust in every task that he endeavored in, now had to overcome obstacles that were so simple before.
That was Joe Peluso
Dear friend you will be missed.
