Hoping Fletchers site remains a dance club under new owners
To the editor:
Last week Fletchers Grille & Spirits closed. So many of us were shocked and extremely disappointed. Club Fletchers was the only place in the Cape where people of all ages 21 to 91 could dance the night away. Many weekends were spent there with my friends listening to great bands, dancing to great music provided by a live DJ and enjoying cocktails with top shelf bartenders. For those who smoked, the patio was the place to be. The restaurant was a nice place to go for special occasions.
If you take a look on Fletchers Facebook, you can see it was sold to Duffy’s Sports Grill. From the comments posted, most people including myself are not thrilled with another sports bar. The question is where do we go now for live music, and dancing? I live here in the Cape and Club Fletchers was the best go to on the weekend. While I like downtown Fort Myers and Naples, it is out of my comfort zone at times. While Duffy’s is opening sometime in September due to renovating we can only hope they keep the club as is and open. I am sure they will do what they have to do. All I can say is that some of the Best of Times were at Club Fletchers.
