Ban fracking

1 min read

To the editor:

Fracking should be banned in Florida. Mr. Rodrigues’s Bill will require oil companies to divulge their chemicals used in fracking. The chemicals used with each well will vary. The conditions with each use (amount ,pressure ,temperature, soil, rock etc.) different chemical reactions would occur each time and produce new chemicals(unknown).

Our aquifers are very sensitive and our soil is much different than in New York and other states. We must be very careful of contamination.

Testing extracted well water after fracking would not totally prove we do not contaminate aquifers and future drinking water.

Wastewater from each well must be disposed of, decontaminated or allowed to evaporate into our environment. So we would breathe in what chemicals? Each well has exhaust into the environment which must be monitored for life.

Please ban fracking in Florida.
