Time to right a compensation wrong
To the editor:
We are now in the month of February 2015, and the regular city employees, the employees that make this city run, still have not received a raise.
The last raise they received was in 2009, and since then they have given money back to the city through having to take a pay cut and a furlough (unpaid).
Now the city has rebounded from its past fiscal crisis, the police and fire have gotten their raises and there’s talk about buying a power plant. We have the money, how about giving it back to the employees who have earned it time and time again.
During the past six years, the quality of work from these employees has not dropped an ounce, meaning they are still dedicated to the people of Cape Coral, and they take pride in their work. So, mayor, council members and city manager, how about standing up for these dedicated employees and rewarding them for their hard work and dedication through the tough financial crisis and beyond and giving them a decent raise.
FYI, I am not a city employee, just a citizen who feels a great wrong needs to be made right.
