No Ebola, more abuse

To the editor:

During the beginning of the last century America had many unknown illnesses we had to deal with. Great nurses and doctors took care of thousands of patients either with major diseases here at home or what they came back with from fighting the wars. Those who helped in the medical field were treated with respect.

No one today should be treated with such disregard as the nurse from Maine, Ms. Kaci Hickox.

Without a trace of Ebola she was ordered by Gov. Christi of New Jersey, to get into a make-shift tent for a quarantine period. The make-shift tent had no way for Ms. Hickox to clean herself. She had a make-shift toilet, that reportedly looked like a “suitcase.”

Would this type of treatment, have stopped the spread, if any, of Ebola? Is this the way we treat our nurses and doctors who are out there saving many lives and stopping the deadly virus of Ebola? Is this how we treated those who served over 100 years ago, when they did not know how to cure diseases? Did this stop those who cared for the sick and dying when we had no inoculations ? Is this the kind of attitude we want to have and hold with honor to those who serve our country?

Doctors without Borders is one of the most prominent organizations which go out and serve the world, risk their lives and receive little honor for what they do to make the world a better place in which to live. With scare tactics and abuse from certain political arenas, it makes you wonder what their agenda is and please ask yourself if you think this is the kind of country you want to live in. Is this the kind of message we want to send out to the world? Don’t you think the rest of the world is watching what we do?

How pathetic they all are for not offering dignity or appropriate care to those who serve our country. Shame on those politicians and shame on us for supporting these unconstitutional actions thrown upon these innocent and brave people.

There is NO Ebola outbreak in this country.
