Political campaigns take energy

To the editor:

I will admit to a bias as I begin this letter. I am volunteering for Debbie Jordan in her run for County Commission. I have known her for three-plus years and have been volunteering for her since she decided to run for the Commission seat. I have been there when things were great and when something didn’t go right. If things go wrong we do a quick review – what did we do right, what did we do wrong, what didn’t we do – and then we move on. It makes a great work/volunteer atmosphere.

Last Tuesday night Debbie had three events she needed to attend between 6:30 and 8, she only made two of them. I attended the Equality Florida event so someone from the campaign would be there from the start, Debbie hoped to get there. Later she penned an apology for not making the event on Facebook saying she hadn’t figured out how to clone herself yet.

Tuesday night she would only have needed two campaign clones to get done what she wanted to get done. But I have seen days when she needed a couple of campaign clones, a mother clone, a grandmother clone, and let’s not forget the employee clone who has to go to work every day to put food on the table. She has amazing energy, I get tired just watching her.

She might run out of time but she doesn’t run out of energy. Just think of how hard she will work for the citizens of Lee County.

Vote by Mail ballots are in your hands now, early voting starts the 20th, and the election is Nov. 4 so don’t forget to vote. Voting is not only a “right” it is a responsibility of citizenship and local elections have the greatest impact on your day to day life. Vote!
