Florida’s future for prosperity

2 min read

To the editor:

After I watched the most recent Ken Burns PBS special on the Roosevelt family, and in retrospect, I am convinced that we are losing important basic foundations for future prosperity in this country.

Without doubt, we are still deregulated and not making appropriate progress that helps 99 percent of our population.

Big banks and corporations are still not being taxed appropriately. Our minimum wage has not been adjusted for over a decade to help stave off inflation. Our college students are being levied with much debt because of government loans. Our vote is being tampered. Our economic growth is stagnant with no infrastructure or jobs bills passed to create jobs in America.

All these current issues were initiated, and put in place during the Roosevelt years, including the regulation of Wall Street. It is important to understand why these issues have not been implemented through Congress and to hold those accountable for not helping 99 percent of the people in this country.

Before you cast your vote on Nov. 4, please learn about our current politicians, and what they have done to help Floridians. Do you know what their agendas are for helping the poor, the elderly, our students, and our equality?

Shame on those in Congress, as well as our governors, who do not stand up for basic principles of goodness and fairness for all Americans.

Shame on them for not regulating health insurance in the state of Florida.

Who in Florida legislation voted for HB 1842, which deregulated health insurance rates? Who has created laws that harm our citizens either through foreclosure or do not protect the innocent through senseless acts of violence?

Let’s bring back Florida sunshine in to your homes. Vote Charlie Crist for Governor.
